heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής εργασίας αποτελεί η μελέτη των αρχετύπων χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης στις διαδικτυακές θεματικές απεικονίσεις. Στόχος της εργασίας είναι η κατανόηση της έννοιας της χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης και της σχέσης μεταξύ ανθρώπου, υπολογιστικής συσκευής και χάρτη. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, αυτό που επιδιώκεται να προσδιοριστεί είναι ο σκοπός και η αξία της χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης, οι τύποι χρηστών, το είδος υπολογιστικής συσκευής και ο τρόπος σχεδιασμού χαρτογραφικών διεπαφών, καθώς και τα θεμελιώδη αρχέτυπα μέσα από τα οποία υλοποιείται η αλληλεπίδραση. Το θεωρητικό υπόβαθρο που αφορά την εξέλιξη της χαρτογραφίας αναλύεται μέσα από εκτεταμένη βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση των προσεγγίσεων που αφορούν το συγκεκριμένο αντικείμενο. Ορίζονται οι έννοιες της οπτικοποίησης και γεωοπτικοποίησης, παρουσιάζονται οι τρεις προσεγγίσεις που έχουν αναπτυχθεί σχετικά με τον δεύτερο όρο και γίνεται αναφορά στο μοντέλο χαρτογραφικής επικοινωνίας. Στη συνέχεια, περιγράφεται το αντικείμενο της θεματικής χαρτογραφίας, η εξέλιξη και οι βασικές αρχές της, οι κατηγορίες θεματικών χαρτών, ο τρόπος απόδοσης των θεματικών δεδομένων, οι ειδικές θεματικές απεικονίσεις, καθώς και ορισμένες μέθοδοι για τη χαρτογράφηση πολλαπλών μεταβλητών και την απεικόνιση χωροχρονικών δεδομένων. Ακόμη, παρουσιάζονται τα βασικά είδη απλών και πολλαπλών δυναμικών χαρτών και ορίζεται η έννοια της χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης και τα θεμελιώδη στοιχεία της. Αναλύονται τα θεμελιώδη αρχέτυπα που περιλαμβάνει η διαδικασία της χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης, με βάση τους στόχους, τις λειτουργίες και τους τελεστές. Επιπρόσθετα, γίνεται αναφορά στην αρχιτεκτονική και τις τεχνολογίες ενός συστήματος διαδικτυακού χάρτη. Για την καλύτερη κατανόηση των παραπάνω, εξετάζονται ορισμένες διαδικτυακές πλατφόρμες θεματικής χαρτογράφησης από κυβερνητικά, ακαδημαϊκά και ερευνητικά ιδρύματα, όπου εφαρμόζονται διαφορετικές χαρτογραφικές απεικονίσεις και διαφορετικοί συνδυασμοί αρχετύπων για την αλληλεπίδραση του χρήστη με τους χάρτες. Για κάθε πλατφόρμα, δίνονται συνοπτικά πληροφορίες για το περιεχόμενο, το είδος των δεδομένων, των οπτικών μεταβλητών και της απεικόνισης, τον τρόπο δημιουργίας, καθώς και τα αρχέτυπα χαρτογραφικής αλληλεπίδρασης που εφαρμόζονται. Τέλος, παρουσιάζεται η οπτικοποίηση δεδομένων σχετικών με τον Δείκτη Ανθρώπινης Ανάπτυξης παγκοσμίως και των επιμέρους συνιστωσών του, όπως πραγματοποιήθηκε στο περιβάλλον της πλατφόρμας χαρτογράφησης ArcGIS Online, καθώς και η διαδικασία δημιουργίας ενός διαδραστικού διαδικτυακού χάρτη για πρόσβαση από το ευρύ κοινό, μέσω της εφαρμογής ArcGIS Web AppBuilder.	el
heal.abstract	The objective of the present thesis is the study of cartographic interaction primitives in online thematic representations. The aim of the thesis is to comprehend the notion and the process of cartographic interaction and the relation between a human and a map mediated through a computing device. More specifically, the thesis is intended to define the purpose and the value of cartographic interaction, the types of users, the kind of computing devices and the design of cartographic interfaces, as well as the basic primitives through which the interaction is implemented. The theoretical background that refers to the development of cartography is analyzed through an extensive bibliographical review of the approaches that concern this specific object. The concepts of visualization and geovisualization are defined; the three approaches that have been developed in relation to the second term are introduced and there is a reference to the model of cartographic communication. Subsequently, the objective of thematic cartography is described, as well as its development and basic principles, the categories of thematic maps, the way of presenting thematic data, the special thematic representations and certain methods of multivariate mapping and spatio-temporal visualization. In addition, the basic kinds of simple and multiple dynamic maps are presented and a definition of the notion of cartographic interaction and its fundamental elements is given. The basic primitives embedded in the process of cartographic interaction are analyzed on the basis of objectives, operations and operands. Finally, the architecture and technologies of a web mapping system are discussed. To gain a better understanding of the above, there is an examination of certain online thematic mapping platforms from governmental, academic and research institutions, where different cartographic visualizations are implemented and diverse combinations of primitives are provided for the interaction of the user with the maps. For each platform that is examined, brief information is given regarding the content, the types of data, visual variables and representations, the mode of creation, as well as the cartographic interaction primitives that are implemented. In the end, the visualization of data concerning the Human Development Index worldwide, and its individual components, and the way it was carried out in the ArcGIS Online mapping platform is presented and the creation of an interactive web map for wide public access, through ArcGIS Web AppBuilder, is demonstrated.	en
