heal.abstract	Geothermy is considered to be one of the oldest sources of energy production, with it's exploitation being traced somewhere around the beginning of earth's formation. It is commonly accepted that the use of geothermal energy can create a sustainable energy equilibrium both in Greece but also on global scale, and can become a valuable tool in the fight against global warming. In this thesis, a review of geothermal systems is attempted in a reasearch but mainly in a legal and economic level. Two factors, those of economy and law, largely determine the development of geothermal energy, within the framework of the two sciences. In the first chapter, (introduction) a first attempt is made to approaching the issue theoretically as well as clearly stating the issue to be under investigation. In chapter two, the research and technological approach to the subject are presented as wall as answers to some problems related to the applications of shallow geothermal energy. Chapter 3 presents the legal framework applicable to geothermal systems on a national but also on a global level. Chapter 4 records the economic framework that applies to geothermal systems in Greece and worldwide as well as investments in geothermal systems or issues related to them. Finally, in the 5th chapter the conclusions that were drawn on the issue of geothermal systems throughout the writing of the work are presented.	el
