heal.abstract	Η παρούσα ερευνητική εργασία μελετά τις χωρικές και κοινωνικές μεταβολές που λαμβάνουν χώρα τα τελευταία χρόνια στη γειτονιά της Κυψέλης. Προκειμένου να κατανοήσουμε τις διαδικασίες που λαμβά¬νουν χώρα στη γειτονιά, αξιοποιούμε τις θεωρίες του gentrification ως εργαλείο. Από τη βιβλιογραφία προκύπτει ότι το gentrification ανα¬πτύσσεται και λειτουργεί διαφορετικά ανά γεωγραφία και ανά μελέ¬τη περίπτωσης. Με στόχο να διαμορφώσουμε άξονες διερεύνησης, μελετάμε το ιδιαίτερο πλαίσιο διαμόρφωσης της Αθήνας. Η έρευνα στην περιοχή της Κυψέλης εμφανίζει χωρικές και κοινωνικές μεταβο¬λές σημειακά, σε επίπεδο γειτονιάς, με μεγαλύτερη ένταση σε συγκε¬κριμένες συνοικίες. Οι νέοι κάτοικοι που διαθέτουν μεγαλύτερο οικο¬νομικό και πολιτισμικό κεφάλαιο, οι νέες χρήσεις γης που στρέφονται στην κατανάλωση εξεζητημένων προτιμήσεων, και η επανεπένδυση στην περιοχή καθιστούν αλλαγές στη φυσιογνωμία της περιοχής και διαμορφώνουν συνθήκες gentrification. Μέσα από την έρευνα πεδίου, αναδεικνύεται ο ρόλος των τεχνών καθώς και των κατασκευασμένων αφηγήσεων για τη γειτονιά σε σχέση με τις χωρικές και κοινωνικές μεταβολές. Ταυτόχρονα, εγείρονται ερωτήματα για την κατοίκηση στην περιοχή της Κυψέλης όσο και στο κέντρο της Αθήνας και για το ποιος έχει τελικά το “δικαίωμα στην πόλη” και ιδιαίτερα στο κέντρο της πόλης.	el
heal.abstract	This research paper is studying the spatial and social changes that are taking place in the neighbourhood of Kypseli over the last years. The thesis employs the theories of gentrification as a tool for understanding and investigating the processes that take place in the area. The bibliography of gentrification shows us that the process plays out differently according to the specific geography and context of each study case. In order to form consistent research axes, we focus on the specific context of Athens’ center which affects the smaller scale of Kypseli. The on-site research that we conducted in Kypseli has identified spatial and social changes at the neighborhood level, with greater intensity in certain areas. The new residents with greater economic and cultural capital, the new land uses that favour niche consumption, and the capital reinvestment in the area describe the changes of the neighbourhood and claim for the development of gentrification tendencies. The spatial and social changes that have been noted during the research bring more insight into the influence of the arts, as well as the constructed narrations about the neighbourhood and their reinvention. At the same moment, this raises questions not only about the course of living in Kypseli, but in the broader city center of Athens while the ‘right to the city’ and the city center emerges once again.	en
