heal.abstract	Η διπλωματική εργασία πραγματεύεται μία σύγχρονη προσέγγιση του μοναστικού βίου στο κυκλαδίτικο τοπίο της νήσου της Φολεγάνδρου. Διαρθρώνεται περιμετρικά ενός ήδη υπάρχοντος ναού, του Αγίου Σώστη, στα περίχωρα του οικισμού της Άνω Μεριάς. Αφορμή για το συγκεκριμένο θέμα αποτελεί η ανάγκη του σύγχρονου ανθρώπου για περισυλλογή και επιβράδυνση των ταχύτατων ρυθμών ζωής. Βάσει της επί τόπου ανάλυσης καθώς και τη βιβλιογραφική αναφορά στην τυπολογία των μοναστηριακών μονάδων, αποφασίσαμε στη διαίρεση του κτιριολογικού προγράμματος με κύριους άξονες τον προσανατολισμό και το υψόμετρο. Με τα κριτήρια αυτά, οι δημόσιοι χώροι τοποθετούνται με άμεσες προσβάσεις από τον υπαίθριο χώρο, ενώ δημιουργούνται φίλτρα για την πρόσβαση των ιδιωτικών χώρων κατοίκησης και απομόνωσης. Συγκεκριμένα, η είσοδος γίνεται από το καλντερίμι που οδηγεί από την Άνω Μεριά, στο χώρο μελέτης με κατάληξη τη θάλασσα. Η είσοδος γίνεται κλιμακωτά μέσω επιπέδων. Ο κύριος όγκος τοποθετείται στο βορινό άξονα του τοπογραφικού όπου φιλοξενούνται χρήσεις όπως η τραπεζαρία, το αρχονταρίκι, η βιβλιοθήκη και τα εργαστήρια (που απευθύνονται τόσο στους μοναχούς όσο και στο κοινό) με άμεση πρόσβαση στα γύρω χωράφια. Οι χώροι φιλοξενίας των επισκεπτών (ξενώνες) αποτελούν προέκταση της εισόδου στο πρώτο επίπεδο της σύνθεσης κοιτώντας τη χώρα του νησιού ενώ τα κελιά των μοναχών πλαισιώνουν το μοναστήρι από την ανατολή αγναντεύοντας το πέλαγος ανυψωμένα από το έδαφος. Η μορφή της σύνθεσης εμπνέεται από την οχυρωματική διάταξη των ελληνικών μοναστηριών, οριοθετημένη από πέτρινα τοιχεία και τις απότομες απολίξεις του ιδίου του τοπογραφικού. Το υφιστάμενο ξωκλήσι του Αγίου Σώστη παραμένει ακέραιο στο υψηλότερο σημείο του χώρου. Τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιούνται είναι το σκυρόδεμα και η πέτρα για την ομοιόμορφη ένταξη της σύνθεσης στο τοπίο, καθώς και το μέταλλο με ξύλινες επενδύσεις για τις ελαφριές κατασκευές και τα κουφώματα.	el
heal.abstract	The following diploma thesis communicates a contemporary approach of monastic life in the Cycladic landscape of the island of Folegandros. The structure confines the existing structure of Agios Sostis perimetrically, located on the outskirts of the Ano Meria settlement. The reasoning behind this particular subject lies in the need of the modern person for contemplation and deceleration of the fast-paced rhythm of contemporary life. Based on the on-site analysis following the bibliographic reference to monastic typology and customs, orientation and elevation are considered the main axes of the division of the structural program. Given the criteria, communal spaces have direct access from the exterior grounds, while private, residential and isolation spaces retain a filtered access through planes. Notably, entrance to the grounds occurs through the cobblestone trail that connects the settlement of Ano Meria, to the monastery and ends at the shore. The entry is staggered among different levels. The primary building extends along the northern axis of the topography and encompasses functions such as the refectory, the manor house, the library and workshops addressed to monks and visitors alike, with integrated access to the surrounding fields. The guest accommodation areas (dormitories) act as an extension of the entrance to the first level of the composition, offering a peripheral view of the island, while the monks’ cells flank the eastern axis of the monastery facing the never ending horizon. The fortified layout of Greek monasteries heavily inspires the form of the composition, enclosed by stone walls and the steep slopes of the topography itself. The existing chapel of Agios Sostis remains intact, gazing at the horizon from the highest point of the site. The materials used are concrete and stone for the seamless integration of the composition into the landscape, as well as metal beams with wood cladding for the light structures and frames.	en
