heal.abstract	Στην δυτική πλευρά του κέντρου της Μουμπάι, βρίσκεται το Dharavi, ένα από τα πυκνότερα πληθυσμιακά μέρη στον πλανήτη. Στην άλλη πλευρά του Ειρηνικού Ωκεανού, στο Καράκας, το 2007, το ημιτελές, τρίτο ψηλότερο κτίριο της χώρας, με το όνομα «Torre de David» έγινε εν μια νυκτί το σπίτι άπορων πληθυσμών. Στο περιβάλλον του Dharavi η ανάπτυξη της ζωής γίνεται αποκλειστικά παράλληλα με την οριζόντιο. Όσο υπάρχουν κενά στον αστικό ιστό του, γεμίζουν με μικροσκοπικές μονάδες κατοικίας και επαγγελματικών χώρων. Μοιάζοντας με μία συνεχή οικοδομή, το Dharavi διατηρεί τον αυθόρμητο ρυθμό αύξησής του αποκλειστικά οριζοντίως, ενώ ο Torre David, όντας μία οικοδομή σε κατάσταση σύνθεσης και αποσύνθεσης ταυτόχρονα, ανέλαβε τον ρόλο του πιο κατακόρυφου άτυπου οικισμού στον κόσμο. Στην παρούσα εργασία αναγνωρίζονται οι εκφάνσεις της άτυπης κατοίκησης σε δύο μορφολογικά αντίθετα παραδείγματα. Παρατηρείται η ενσωμάτωση της κατακορυφότητας και της οριζοντιότητας σε καθένα από αυτά στον τρόπο διαμόρφωσης της καθημερινότητας, από το ευρύτερο αστικό περιβάλλον, στους κοινόχρηστους χώρους και τις μορφές των μονάδων κατοίκησης και επιχειρείται η αναγνώριση των παραπάνω μορφών και σε άυλα χαρακτηριστικά, όπως οι δομές διοίκησης. Στόχος είναι η κατανόηση της ταυτότητάς τους ως άτυπων οικισμών και οι παράγοντες διαφοροποίησής τους από άλλες μορφές κατοίκησης στην οριζόντιο και την κατακόρυφο.	el
heal.abstract	On the west side of central Mumbai, lies Dharavi, one of the most densely populated places on the planet. On the other side of the Pacific Ocean, in Caracas, in 2007, the incomplete, third tallest building in the country, "Torre de David”, became overnight the home of indigent populations. In Dharavi, life develops exclusively in horizontality. As long as there are voids in its urban fabric, they are filled with tiny residential and business units. Resembling a continuous construction site, Dharavi maintains its spontaneous growth exclusively horizontally, while Torre David, being a building in state of composition and decomposition simultaneously, became the most vertical informal settlement in the world. In this study, the manifestations of informality are recognized in two morphologically opposite examples. The integration of verticality and horizontality in each of them is studied in everyday life, from the wider urban environment, to the public areas and the forms of housing units and it is attempted to identify those forms in intangible characteristics, such as their administrative structures. The aim is to understand their identity as informal settlements and the factors of their differentiation from other forms of habitation in the horizontal and vertical plane.	en
