heal.abstract | It has been confirmed that, regarding the reinforcement of nanocomposite polymer matrices in respect to their mechanical and electric properties, the use of graphene has been proven to be extremely effective. This innovative new material, appears to encompass a wide variety of physical properties that make it suitable for a big number of practical applications in different sectors of industry. In terms of the electric response of polymers, this thesis aims to mathematically model a structure of graphene reinforced polymer sheet as it responds to potential difference. This problem is evaluated with an alternative approach using the finite elements method in a MATLAB environment, attempting to confirm the available results regarding the effective electric conductivity of such polymer composites, while accounting for the quantum tunneling effect. | el |
