heal.abstract | Aiming to expand the measuring capabilities of the ASKOS campaign, the National Observatory of Athens set the goal of observing atmospheric electricity using sensors that would be manufactured exclusively for the campaign. The design and construction of the devices had to require an easy operation with an easy connection with the radiosondes and the weather balloon systems, but also their efficiency in measurements, in combination with a specific financial budget which should not be exceeded. Technical challenges, both mechanical and electronic, made up most of the build, while the pressure of time for catching up the ASKOS campaign wouldn't accept mistakes and delays. Through the problems that showed up in the different tests the sensors faced, indicative models of the creation of the devices are described, with the aim of presenting systems that can be produced in a mass level, without requiring the existence of large laboratories and expensive tools. | en |
