heal.abstract	“Ιερός περίβολος στη σκιά των βράχων”: τίτλος που γεννά σκέψεις για το ιερό και την έννοια του ορίου σε έναν ιερό χώρο, για τη σκιά που υπονοεί το φως, το βράχο… σκέψεις πάνω στις οποίες θα βασιστούμε κι εμείς στην αφήγησή μας για ένα μοναστήρι στην Αθήνα, στα Τουρκοβούνια. Αυτός θα μπορούσε να είναι και ένας άλλος τίτλος: “Μοναστήρι στην Αθήνα, στα Τουρκοβούνια”, ο οποίος θα προκαλούσε κι άλλες σκέψεις. Γιατί μοναστήρι; Γιατί μοναστήρι στην Αθήνα; Γιατί μοναστήρι στην Αθήνα, στα Τουρκοβούνια; Η υποχώρηση της πίστης στο υπέρλογο, σήμερα, παρατηρούμε πως συνοδεύεται από στροφή στην ατομικότητα, η οποία πληγώνει τους συλλογικούς δεσμούς, τις ανθρώπινες σχέσεις αλληλοβοήθειας. Οδηγηθήκαμε στη σκέψη πως η επαναφορά της έννοιας του ιερού στην πόλη θα μπορούσε να ενισχύσει αυτούς τους διερρηγμένους κοινωνικούς δεσμούς, αν το ιερό εκφραστεί ως πηγή αρωγής και αγάπης, σε έναν κοινό τόπο συνύπαρξης, που θα «χωράει» και θα μπορεί να φέρει μαζί το ανθρώπινο και το θεϊκό, το ορατό και το αόρατο. Eρευνούμε, λοιπόν, το ιερό μέσα από τη σύγχρονη αρχιτεκτονική του έκφραση σε ένα μοναστήρι, το οποίο ως μηχανισμός ζωής και ως δομή θα επιτρέπει την ασκητική, αλλά και την έκφραση αυτού του απόκρυφου λόγου ως σχέση με την κοινωνία, μέσω πράξεων προσφοράς. Αυτή η συνύπαρξη του μυσταγωγικού και του ανθρώπινου χαρακτήρα διαμορφώνει την διττή φύση του μοναστηριού. Αυτή τη διφυία αναζητήσαμε και στον τόπο που θα το παραλάμβανε και την αναγνωρίσαμε στον λόφο των παλιών λατομείων, στα Τουρκοβούνια: όπως το μοναστήρι είναι ένας τόπος όπου συναντάται το θεϊκό με το ανθρώπινο, έτσι και ο λόφος είναι ένας «ενδιάμεσος» τόπος, μεταξύ φυσικού και τεχνητού, ως φυσικό τοπίο, που λατομήθηκε και, πλέον, περιβάλλεται από την πόλη. Στο όριο, λοιπόν, φυσικού και τεχνητού εγκαθιστούμε το μοναστήρι.	el
heal.abstract	“Sacred precinct in the rocks’ shade”: a title that gives rise to thoughts about the sacred and the boundary in a sacred space, about the shadow that implies the light, the rock… thoughts on which we will base our narrative about a monastery in Athens, in Tourkovounia. Another title could have been: “Monastery in Athens, in Tourkovounia”, which would have provoked other thoughts. Why a monastery? Why a monastery in Athens? Why a monastery in Athens, in Tourkovounia? Today, we observe that faith in the irrational subsides, while individualism is strengthened, to the detriment of collective bonds, foremost, of the mutual help between the members of the community. We believe that if the sacred is reintroduced into the city, as a source of help and love, in a common ground, where the human and the divine, the visible and the invisible could coexist, then these broken social bolds would be reinforced. We approach, therefore, the sacred through its contemporary architectural expression in a monastery, which as a mode of living and as a structure will favor ascetic life, and also permit the manifestation of the occult in society, through acts of offering. This coexistence of the mystical and the human character forms the monastery’s dual nature. We decided that this duality should be, somehow, mirrored in the site that would accommodate the monastery. We found this quality in the hill of the old quarries, in Tourkovounia: just as the monastery is a place where the divine meets the human, so the hill is an "intermediate" place, between the natural and the artificial, as a natural landscape, quarried and now surrounded by the city. So, on the boundary between the natural and the artificial we install the monastery.	en
