heal.abstract | A search for a heavy resonance decaying into a top quark and a W boson in proton-proton collisions at sqrt{s} = 13 TeV is presented. The data analyzed were recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36.3 fb^{-1}. The analysis is focused on the semileptonic final state, where the W boson decays leptonically and reconstructed as a lepton (muon) and a missing transverse momentum, while the top quark decays hadronically and reconstructed as a jet identified as originating from a bottom quark and as two jets with invariant mass equal to the W boson mass. An excited bottom quark b* model is used as a benchmark during the search. The hypotheses of b* quarks with left-handed chirality are excluded at 90% confidence level for masses below 2.2 TeV. | el |
