heal.abstract	Ξεκινώντας την ιστορική αναδρομή από την προβιομηχανική εποχή του νησιού της Λέσβου μέχρι και σήμερα, μελετήσαμε την διαδικασία παραγωγής του ελαιολάδου και του σαπουνιού, την αλλαγή των μέσων παραγωγής, τα μορφολογικά και κατασκευαστικά χαρακτηριστικά των βιομηχανικών κτιρίων, τις χωρικές σχέσεις με τους οικισμούς, καθώς και τις κοινωνικές σχέσεις που αναπτύχθηκαν μέσα και γύρω από αυτά. Κατά τη διάρκεια αυτής της μελέτης το ενδιαφέρον μας για τα βιομηχανικά κτίρια μετατοπίστηκε από τα μορφολογικά τους χαρακτηριστικά και τις δυνατότητες που προσφέρουν λόγω του μεγέθους τους για νέες χρήσεις, στον κοινωνικό αντίκτυπο που είχε η ύπαρξη και η λειτουργία τους. Έτσι η προσπάθεια αυτή έγκειται στην συγκέντρωση εκείνων των πληροφοριών που θεωρήσαμε απαραίτητες προκειμένου να αποκτήσουμε μία πιο ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα για έναν τόπο και την αρχιτεκτονική του. Τέλος, γίνεται αναφορά στο θεσμικό πλαίσιο που αφορά στην αποκατάσταση και επανάχρηση των βιομηχανικών μνημείων καθώς και σε πραγματοποιημένα παραδείγματα εντός του νησιού. Η εργασία καταλήγει στην εξαγωγή σκέψεων και συμπερασμάτων που αφορούν στη επανάχρηση τέτοιων συγκροτημάτων και τις συσχετίσεις που διαμορφώνουν με την τοπική κοινωνία.	el
heal.abstract	Starting our historical retrospective from the pre-industrial era of the island of Lesvos up to the present day, we examined the process of olive oil and soap production, the change of means of production, the morphological and constructional characteristics of industrial buildings, the spatial relationships with settlements, as well as the social relations that developed within and around them. During this study, our interest in industrial buildings shifted from their morphological characteristics and the possibilities they offer due to their size for new uses, to the social impact of their existence and operation. Thus, this effort lies in gathering those pieces of information that we considered necessary in order to gain a more comprehensive picture of a place and its architecture. Finally, reference is made to the institutional framework concerning the restoration and reuse of industrial monuments as well as to realized examples within the island. The work concludes with the extraction of thoughts and conclusions regarding the reuse of such complexes and the relationships they shape with the local society.	en
