The hull structure of container vessels is comprised of structural elements initially determined in accordance with structural regulations established by relevant classification authorities. It is imperative to validate all empirical formulas specified in these classification regulations through numerical analysis methods. The objective is to optimize the hull girder structure during the initial design phase, ultimately enhancing the longevity of container vessels and ensuring their safe operation in challenging sea environment. More specifically, the primary aim of this study is to evaluate various factors related to the strength of container vessels. For this purpose, four different vessels have been selected, including ones with capacities of 4250 TEU, 6500 TEU, 11000 TEU and 12690 TEU. These vessels vary in size, loading capacity and structural configuration, as shown in the available midship and hull structure plans. The assessment of hull girder strength is conducted in three stages. |
