heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας, αποτελεί, η διερεύνηση πρακτικών προσεγγίσεων, για την επίτευξη αφενός, της ισορροπίας μεταξύ της διατήρησης της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς και της βιώσιμης ανάπτυξης, αφετέρου, της ανάδειξης και αξιοποίησης του αστικού χώρου, που θα ανταποκρίνεται στις τοπικές και υπερτοπικές ανάγκες, μέσα απο την εγκατάσταση της Αρχιτεκτονικής σχολής του Πολυτεχνείου Κρήτης στην Παλιά πόλη των Χανίων. Η ιδιαίτερη μορφολογία και ο κομβικός ρόλος της Παλιάς πόλης των Χανίων, ως δοχείο ιστορίας, πολιτισμού και λειτουργιών στη σύγχρονη πόλη, καθιστούν την βιωσιμότητα και την αναζωογόνηση της αναγκαία. Στην κατεύθυνση αυτή, η μεταφορά και η λειτουργία μιας Αρχιτεκτονικής σχολής μέσα στο κέντρο της, μπορεί να προσφέρει οφέλη για την τοπική κοινωνία και την ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα. Ωστόσο το εγχείρημα αυτό, συνοδεύεται και από προκλήσεις, που αφορούν τις σύγχρονες ανάγκες του ιδρύματος, άλλα και την ένταξη της στην κλίμακα της πόλης. Αφετηρία της έρευνας μας, αποτελεί η αναζήτηση για την απάντηση των εξής ερωτημάτων: “Ποιες προοπτικές μπορεί να δημιουργήσει η εγκατάσταση της Αρχιτεκτονικής σχολής στο κέντρο της παλιάς πόλης;” και ‘‘με ποιο τρόπο η μεταφορά αυτή μπορεί να ωφελήσει την ακαδημαϊκή και τοπική κοινότητα ‘‘. Ακολουθούν προσωπικές παρατηρήσεις, η ανάλυση της περιοχής, η κατανόηση των περιορισμών, η δημιουργία σχεδίου δράσης και η πρόταση μας.	el
heal.abstract	The object of this thesis is the investigation of practical approaches to achieve, the balance between the preservation of cultural heritage and sustainable development, and the promotion and utilization of urban space, which will respond to local and supra-local needs, through the establishment of the Architecture School in the Old Town of Chania. The particular morphology and the pivotal role of the Old Town of Chania, as a container of history, culture and functions in the modern city, make its sustainability and revitalization necessary. The transfer and operation of an Architecture school in its center can offer benefits for the local community and the academic community. However, this project is also accompanied by challenges, concerning the modern needs of the institution, as well as its inclusion in the scale of the city. The starting point of our research is the search for the answer to the following questions: “What perspectives can the installation of the School of Architecture in the center of the old city create?” and “how this transfer can benefit the academic and local community”. Followed by personal observations, the analysis of the area, the understanding of the limitations, the creation of an action and our proposal.	en
