heal.abstract	The type IIB matrix model, is a promising candidate for a non-perturbative description of type IIB string theory. Based on this proposal, various attempts have been made to explain how 4-dimensional space-timecan emerge dynamically from superstring theory. This thesis focuses on the most recent results for the Euclidean and Lorentzian versions of the IKKT matrix model, which are obtained using the complex Langevin method to overcome the complex action problem they suffer from. A pedantic analysis of stochastic calculus and related background is included as an insight and support to the methodology applied.	el
