heal.abstract	Με την παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή επιχειρούμε να επανερμηνεύσουμε κάποιες πτυχές της ρωμαϊκής τέχνης και να προσπαθήσουμε να εξετάσουμε τις μεταγραφές μεταξύ ηθικής και τέχνης στην πρώιμη αυτοκρατορική Ρώμη. Ως μεταγραφή ορίζουμε στην έρευνά μας τη μεταφορά ηθικών ποιοτήτων στον τομέα της ρωμαϊκής τέχνης και αρχιτεκτονικής. Ο όρος αυτός περιγράφει το πώς οι ποιότητες του ήθους και οι ηθικές αντιλήψεις της εποχής μεταβαίνουν από το discourse της ηθικής σκέψης στο πεδίο της τέχνης και της αρχιτεκτονικής. Η έρευνά μας βασίστηκε τόσο στις πηγές της λατινικής γραμματείας όσο και στα ίδια τα υλικά αρχιτεκτονικά τεκμήρια, καταλήγοντας σε ερμηνείες σχετικά με το πώς οι ιδέες περί του ήθους επηρέασαν κρίσιμα τη ρωμαϊκή τέχνη και αρχιτεκτονική. H έρευνα εντοπίζει την ύπαρξη μιας εικαστικής γλώσσας που ως συγκροτησιακό στοιχείο της έχει τις σχέσεις ήθους και τέχνης/αρχιτεκτονικής. Η διατριβή εστιάζει στην έννοια της gravitas την οποία αναλύει, τόσο κυριολεκτικά ως βαρύτητα, όσο και σημασιολογικά, ως στοιχείo έκφρασης ηθικών νοημάτων στην αρχιτεκτονική. Ειδικότερα εξετάζει πως αυτές οι έννοιες παρουσιάζονται εκτός των άλλων στα αρχιτεκτονικά στοιχεία του podium και του ημικίονα, έτσι όπως αυτά εξελίχθηκαν στη ρωμαϊκή αρχιτεκτονική. Τέλος εξετάζεται η αλλαγή του παραδείγματος κατά τα πρώτα χριστιανικά χρόνια όπου οι ηθικές αξίες σταδιακά μεταγράφουν νέες ηθικές ποιότητες, μέσα από τις έννοιες της εξαΰλωσης και της ελαφρότητας.	el
heal.abstract	With the present doctoral dissertation we attempt to reinterpret aspects of Roman art and architecture, and try to examine the transitions between ethics and art in Early imperial Rome. In our research, we define “transcriptions” as the transfers of moral qualities in the field of Roman art. This term describes how the qualities of “ethos” and the moral perceptions of the early imperial era move from the discourse of moral thought to the field of art. Our dissertation was based so much on the sources of Latin literature as much as on the material evidences, leading to interpretations of how ideas about morality critically influenced Roman art. Our research finds the existence of a visual language that, as its structural element, has the relationship between ethics and art/architecture. Our dissertation focuses on the concept of gravitas which it analyzes, both literally as gravity, and semantically, as an element of expression of moral meanings in architecture. In particular, it examines how these concepts are presented, among others, in the architectural elements of the podium and the semicolumn, as they evolved in Roman architecture. Finally, it examines the change of paradigm during the early Christianity where moral values gradually transcribe new moral qualities, through the concept of immaterialization.	en
