heal.abstract	Η άνοδος της στάθμης των υδάτων λόγω της υπερθέρμανσης του πλανήτη και των φυσικών καταστροφών αποτελεί μία από τις μεγαλύτερες προκλήσεις της εποχής μας. Ταυτόχρονα, ο υπερπληθυσμός και τα ακραία καιρικά φαινόμενα εντείνουν την ανάγκη για καινοτόμες στρατηγικές προσαρμογής. Η σχέση του ανθρώπου με το υδάτινο περιβάλλον υπήρξε ανέκαθεν καθοριστική, οδηγώντας στην ανάπτυξη διαφόρων μορφών κατοίκησης στο νερό. Η ερευνητική αυτή εργασία, μέσω βιβλιογραφικής ανασκόπησης, εξετάζει τόσο τις παραδοσιακές, όσο και τις σύγχρονες αρχιτεκτονικές πρακτικές στο νερό, εστιάζοντας στις περιβαλλοντικές και κοινωνικές συνθήκες καθώς και στα κατασκευαστικά χαρακτηριστικά τους. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, αναγνωρίζονται τρεις βασικές κατηγορίες κατοίκησης στο υδάτινο στοιχείο: οι πασσαλόπηκτες κατασκευές, οι πλωτές δομές και οι τεχνητές νησίδες. Με δεδομένες τις συνέπειες της κλιματικής αλλαγής και της υπεραστικοποίησης, η επέκταση της κατοίκησης προς το νερό προβληματίζει έντονα την επιστημονική κοινότητα, δημιουργώντας προγράμματα και πιλοτικά σχέδια, τα οποία θα ανταποκρίνονται στις ανερχόμενες προκλήσεις και θα προωθούν τη βιωσιμότητα και τις νέες τεχνολογικές καινοτομίες. Έτσι, προκύπτει το ερώτημα, αν η κατοίκηση στο νερό μπορεί να αποτελέσει όντως μια ρεαλιστική λύση για το μέλλον ή απλώς θα παραμένει μια ουτοπική ιδέα.	el
heal.abstract	The rise in sea levels due to global warming and natural disasters is one of the greatest challenges of our time. At the same time, overpopulation and extreme weather events intensify the need for innovative adaptation strategies. Humanity’s relationship with the aquatic environment has always been pivotal, leading to the development of various forms of water-based habitation. This research project, through a literature review, explores both traditional and contemporary architectural practices on water, focusing on environmental and social conditions as well as constructional features. Within this framework, three main categories of water-based habitation are identified: pile dwellings, floating structures, and artificial islands. Given the consequences of climate change and rapid urbanization, the expansion of habitation toward aquatic environments is a pressing concern within the scientific community, generating programs and pilot projects that aim to respond to emerging challenges while promoting sustainability and technological innovation. This gives rise to the central question: can living on water truly become a realistic solution for the future, or will it remain a utopian idea?	el
