Ανάπλαση της βόρειας επιβατικής προβλήτας Λαυρίου

Abstract

Το θέμα της διπλωματικής εργασίας μας αφορά στην ανάπλαση της βόρειας επιβατικής προβλήτας Λαυρίου. Αναλύοντας και διαπιστώνοντας την στρατηγική θέση του λιμένα, τον κορεσμό των επιβατικών λιμένων της Αττικής και την εγγύτητα του Λαυρίου με τα νησιά του Αιγαίου και το διεθνές αεροδρόμιο Αθηνών, αναγνωρίζουμε την επιτακτική ανάγκη για την ανάδειξή του σε ανατολική λιμενική πύλη και κόμβο μετεπιβίβασης, με στόχο την προώθηση της πολιτικής ναυτιλίας μικρών αποστάσεων και την καθοριστική συμβολή του στην ανάπτυξη και αναβάθμιση της ανατολικής Αττικής. Κατά την συνθετική διαδικασία, τέθηκε το ερώτημα διαχωρισμού των λειτουργιών, τόσο για τη δημιουργία κοινωνικού χώρου με παράκτιο πάρκο που δεν επιβαρύνεται από τη λειτουργία του λιμένα, όσο και για την ανεμπόδιστη και ανεξάρτητη λειτουργία του δεύτερου. Ενοποιητικά στοιχεία αποτέλεσαν η ακτογραμμή, το ανάγλυφο και οι πορείες κίνησης, με στόχο να προσδώσουν στον ανεκμετάλλευτο χώρο του λιμένα τοπικό και υπερτοπικό χαρακτήρα. Το αρχιτεκτονικό λεξιλόγιο μορφώθηκε σε συσχετισμό με τα στοιχεία του τόπου. Οι πέτρινες κατασκευές, το χώμα, η φύση, οι σχηματισμοί του νερού, οι στοές με τις εξάρσεις και τις υποχωρήσεις τους, η σκάλα φόρτωσης, οι αναλημματικοί τοίχοι, η αρχιτεκτονική της σύγχρονης πόλης και ο δισδιάστατος χαρακτήρας της πλατφόρμας του λιμένα αποτελούν τις γενεσιουργές δυνάμεις της σύνθεσης. Η ανάλυση και η εκ νέου ερμηνεία των μοναδικών χαρακτηριστικών ενός αυτοτελούς τόπου με ιδιάζουσα χαρακτηριστικά αποτέλεσε πρόκληση. Η διάπλαση του τοπίου στηρίχθηκε στην τμηματοποίηση και τον κατακερματισμό της προβλήτας και στη δημιουργία ενός λόφου. Προτείνουμε ένα νέο ανάγλυφο που προσδίδει στην υπάρχουσα πλατφόρμα την τρίτη διάσταση και δημιουργεί ποιότητες ανάμεσα στο σκληρό όριό της και στο ευμετάβλητο όριο του νερού.

The subject of our diploma project concerns the redesign of the north pier at the passengers port of Lavrio. Analyzing and noting the strategic position of the port, the saturation of passengers ports of Attica and the proximity of Lavrio with the Aegean islands and the international Athens airport, we recognize the necessity for its designation in eastern port gateway, with ultimate purpose the promotion of short sea shipping policy and the development and upgrading of eastern Attica. During the synthesis process, the question of separating the varied functions was raised, both for the creation of a social space with a coastal park that is not burdened by the operation of the port and for the unhindered and independent operation of the second. Unifying elements are the coastline, the terrain and the routes of motion, in order to give the untapped area of the port local and supralocal character. The architectural vocabulary is shaped in conjunction with the elements of the site. The stone terracing, buffer construction, the soil, the nature, the formations of the water, the tunnels of the ancient mines with the bursts and the concessions, the French ladder, the retaining walls, the harsh architecture of the modern city of Lavrio and the two-dimensional nature of the platform of the port, are the root forces in composition. The analysis and the reinterpretation of the unique characteristics of a separate site with special features was a challenge. The conformation of the landscape has been based on the segmentation of the pier with uplifts and recessions and on the creation of a hillside. We propose a new landscape which attaches to the existing unwelcoming platform the third dimension and creates different qualities of space between the hard peak and the volatility of the water.
