Ιστορική και Πολεοδομική Εξέλιξη της Νήσου Κω

Abstract

Στην παρούσα Διπλωματική Εργασία εξετάζονται η ιστορική και πολεοδομική εξέλιξη της νήσου Κω από την ίδρυσή της έως σήμερα, έτσι όπως αυτή στοιχειοθετείται από τα αρχεία του κράτους, την πολεοδομία και άλλους τοπικούς και κρατικούς φορείς καθώς και τα σημαντικά ιστορικά γεγονότα που επηρέασαν την πορεία του νησιού στο χρόνο. Σκοπός της εργασίας αυτής είναι ο εντοπισμός των γεγονότων που έπαιξαν καθοριστικό ρόλο στην πορεία του νησιού καθώς και η περιγραφή της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης μέσω της οποίας επισημαίνονται πιθανά προβλήματα και διατυπώνονται προτάσεις που θα συμβάλουν στην ανάπτυξη του δήμου. Αρχικά, παρουσιάζεται μια σύντομη χωροταξική προσέγγιση του Δήμου της Κω καθώς και η φυσιογνωμία του νησιού. Στη συνέχεια, αποτυπώνονται η ιστορική διαδρομή καθώς και η πολεοδομική και Αρχιτεκτονική εξέλιξη του νησιού στους αιώνες. Επίσης, καταγράφονται οι σημαντικοί αρχαιολογικοί χώροι του νησιού, η πολιτιστική υποδομή αυτού, το φυσικό περιβάλλον, η τεχνική υποδομή και η κοινωνική υποδομή αυτού. Τέλος, γίνεται αξιολόγηση της υφιστάμενης κατάστασης, τα πιθανά προβλήματα που προκύπτουν προτάσεις αντιμετώπισής τους.

In this diploma thesis is presented an overview of the historical and urban development of the island of Kos from its establishment till today, as it is evidenced by the records of the state, town and other local and government agencies as well as important historical events that influenced the course of the island during the time, is presented. The main target of the diploma thesis is to develop a clearer picture of the events that took place and played a determinal role in the development of the island and to describe the current situation through which are highlighted potential problems and are submited proposals which shall contribute to the development of the city. At first, is shown a brief spatial planning of the city of Kos as well as the physiognomy of the island. Next is registered the historical route and both urban design and architecture developmnet of the island through the Centuries. Also, are mentioned the archeological locations of the island, the cultural, technical and social infrastructure of the island,as well as the natural enviroment. At the end of this work is highlighted the current situation, the probable problems of the island that arises and solutions to face them.
