Ελαιώνας: λήθη και ανάκληση τοπογραφίας

Abstract

Η σηµερινή κρίση της πόλης, η οποία αντανακλά ευθέως στον Ελαιώνα, είναι µια κρίση των ορίων σε σχέση µε τη φύση και τη µνήµη. Αναζήτούνται και προσδιορίζονται οι σχέσεις μετάξύ της αρχαίας τοπογραφίας, με την έννοια της γεωγραφίας του τόπου και της σύγχρονης πόλης. Η έρευνα βρίσκει εφαρμογή στο σύγχρονο Ελαιώνα, αφενός διότι εκεί συναντώνται ιδιαίτερης σημασίας, όρια, θραύσµατα και συσχετίσεις που κληροδοτούνται από το παρελθόν, αφετέρου δε καθώς εκεί η λήθη είναι εμφανής και η ανάκληση επί προσδοκία. Σε αυτούς ακριβώς τους τόπους, στις ρωγµές του αστικού ιστού, εντοπίζεται η ανάγκη προκειµένου να αποκατασταθεί η ισορροπία ανάµεσα στο παρόν και το παρελθόν, ανάµεσα στη µνήµη και την ιστορική συνέχεια. Με το συσχετισμό των εννοιών αυτών επιδιώκεται η επανασύνδεση των µελών του αστικού ιστού και η ανάγνωση των διαφορετικών τµηµάτων της ιστορίας και της φύσης. Αναγνωρίζοντας τα στοιχεία αυτά συγκροτηµένα, ως ένα ενιαίο σύνολο, σκοπός είναι να αποτελέσουν βασικό αίτηµα για τις σύγχρονες πόλεις, ώστε στα πλαίσια µιας κοινωνίας που αναζητεί την µελλοντική της ταυτότητα, να ανακτήσει ο άνθρωπος τη σχέση του µε τη φύση και τη µνήµη και να αναγνώσει σε αυτές το παλίµψηστο της ιστορικής του συνέχειας.

Contemporary city crisis, reflected directly on the region of Eleonas, is a crisis of boundaries in relation to nature and memory. The relations between ancient topography, as the geography of the place, and the contemporary city are sought and defined. This research finds application in the region of contemporary Eleonas on the one hand because that is where significant boundaries, fragments, and interrelations inherited from the past come together, whereas on the other hand that is where oblivion is apparent and recall is sought after. In such places, within the cracks of urban fabric, the need for the restoration of the balance between the contemporary and the past is found, between the memory and the historical continuity. Through the interrelation of these notions, the reconnection of the parts of the urban fabric is attempted along with the recognition of different aspects of history and nature. By recognizing these elements in a composed way, as a whole, the aim set is to establish them as basic requirements of contemporary cities, and as a result, within the framework of a society questing for its future identity, man recovers his relation with nature and memory and recognizes in them the palimpsest of his historic continuity.
