dc.description.abstract This diploma thesis, entitled “Production and Investigation of Physicomechanical Properties of Pervious Concrete” was an attempt to produce pervious concrete with limestone aggregates and their substitution by alternative ones in the context of sustainable development and environmental protection. Specifically, through pilot compositions investigated the production of pervious concrete using limestone aggregates, by covering demands of physicomechanical properties as presented in the international bibliography. Thereafter, the final composition was substituted with aggregates of the byproduct of steel slag and aggregates of recycled concrete (demolition wastes), in several percentages and mixtures. The compositions of substitution obtained was re-evaluated and compared to each other based on the following attributes: compression and tensile strength at various ages, abrasion behavior, water permeability, percentage of void content (porosity) and visual inspection. According to the results by the experimental methods, the production of porous concrete with satisfactory properties is possible with both the use of limestone and alternative aggregates. The use of steel slag showed better behavior in this type of concrete, while the recycled concrete showed better behavior mainly in abrasion but not so much in water permeability due to the large degree of compaction. Both these alternative aggregates appear to cooperate well with the conventional limestone aggregates, but not so much together, except in the case of presence of the latter in the composition. Also, the amount of cement in the mixture must be the minimum possible and a small amount of fine aggregates (sand) indicates to assist in bonding of pervious concrete. Finally, proper compaction is a very important factor for the final properties of this type of concrete, especially for the creation of a good and continuous porous structure. en
