The dynamic properties of composite systems consisting of a cold-setting epoxy matrix filled with aluminium or iron particles were investigated over a wide temperature range. Storage moduli and loss factors of a large number of composites were determined, and the effect of various parameters, such as frequency, volume fraction of filler and particle size, were examined in particular for specimens exhibiting imperfect interfacial adhesion between matrix and filler. Comparison with theoretical predictions was satisfactory whenever certain fundamental assumptions were fulfilled. © 1975. |
