An optical experimental method for the determination of the ratio of Poisson's ratio nu to the modulus of elasticity E in isotropic elastic materials is proposed. This method is based on the method of reflected caustics and is valid both for transparent and opaque materials and in the first case both for optically isotropic and optically anisotropic materials. |
