If s is a zero of the function f(x) with multiplicity n, and |f(n+1)(x)| is bounded in a neighborhood of s, then s is a simple zero of the function {Mathematical expression} and |h″(x)| is bounded in some neighborhood of s. Iteration methods like Newton's Steffensen's or the secant method converge therefore to s without reduction of their order of convergence, if they are applied on h(x) instead of f(x). © 1979 Springer-Verlag. |
