An analytical procedure for establishing critical loads of non-conservative frames is illustrated through a simple two-bar frame subjected to a circulatory compressive force. It is found that this frame can be considered as a pseudo-non-conservative system, for the divergence type of analysis and the flutter type of analysis are both applicable and give the same smallest critical load. This load coincides with the non-linear divergence buckling load associated with an unstable bifurcational point. Finally, it is found that the critical load is independent of the flexural rigidity and length of the uncompressed bar. © 1979. |
