The optical method of reflected caustics was applied to the study of singularities in the stress field appearing at the crack tip of symmetric plates containing a symmetric crack and submitted to bending loads. The method of caustics was used in connection with the most effective plate theories, that is the theories of Kirchhoff-Williams and Reissner-Sih as they apply to problems of cracked plates. © 1979. |
