heal.abstract We study the phenomenological implications of a particular singularity in hadron production, which is demanded by i) Koba-Nielsen-Olesen scaling, ii) factorization, iii) analyticity, and results in a phase transition in the Feynman-Wilson analogue fluid. We show that this singularity, combined with ordinary meson and pomeron exchanges in a Regge-Mueller model, can describe all long-range effects exhibited by the data, in the longitudinal region. We simultaneously fit the total and elastic cross-sections, the average multiplicity, the integrated correlation f2, the height of the plateau and the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward elastic-scattering amplitude, for proton-proton collisions, in a wide energy range. © 1980 Società Italiana di Fisica. en
