We investigate the class of static abelian magnetic fields which are localized in the sense rA → 0 at infinity, A being the gauge potential. We find that those admitting fermion bound states form a wide subclass of ""non-zero measure"". We give a method to construct all such fields starting from appropriate conserved integrable fermionic currents J(x). The motivation for this work is that fermions similarly bound in non-abelian gauge fields may induce chiral symmetry breakdown in QCD. © 1984. |
