Fully developed parallel flow in straight pipes allows analytical solution of the viscous flow equations. Incompressible newtonian fluids flowing steadily in a straight elliptical pipe have been studied a long time ago by Boussinesq. Unsteady viscous flow investigations are more recent. The present theory is required in order to provide local velocities for pulsatile flow in a long elliptical pipe. |
