In recent years important research has been performed in the area of system optimization by control engineers. The application of optimal control theory to power system stabilization studies has also been well developed. This paper presents a new computational method which has been developed to evaluate the optimal regulator design of a power system. Using this method, typical single-machine and multimachine power systems are analysed and the dynamic responses of all state variables for each system machine are evaluated and presented. Finally, when it is not possible, in practice, to design an optimal controller, the developed method can also be applied to a simplified control model to obtain the suboptimal control policy of a given linear system. © 1985. |
