The problem of scattering of vertically polarized electromagnetic waves from underground cylindrical objects is investigated. The analysis used can be considered to be an extension of previous integral-equation techniques dealing with the horizontal-polarization scattering problem from underground tunnels or conducting wires. Numerical data for the far-field region of buried cylindrical objects are plotted and some interesting conclusions based on these results are discussed and compared with those of the horizontal scattering problem. |
