This paper examines the response of a simplified two-layer system to a unit load introduced in one of the layers. It is assumed that velocities and concentrations are uniform within each layer and that a Fickian-type transfer occurs through the interface, depending on the local concentration difference. An analytical solution is developed with a view to offer an insight into the phenomenon and to provide a basis for verification of complex numerical models. |
