The competition between pn and d as well as between pn and d evaporation leading to the production of the same residual nuclei has been measured for nine and five heavy-ion-induced nuclear reactions, respectively, each at several bombarding energies. The deduced pn/d ratios have been found to be in very good agreement with the predictions of a previously extracted empirical equation. The ratios pn/d do not seem to depend on either the interacting system or the maximum excitation energy available to the residual nucleus. © 1986 The American Physical Society. |
