The present work describes a numerical procedure for the prediction of turbulent, fully developed inclined flow in rod bundles, including the limiting cases of purely axial and purely transverse flow. The procedure is based on a finite-difference solution of the momentum and continuity differential equations expressed in curvillinear-orthogonal co-ordinates. The effects of turbulence are simulated by the ""k-ε{lunate}"" turbulence model. Application of the procedure provides new information about the behaviour of turbulent inclined flow. The effects of inclination angle on the pressure-drop and on the other characteristics of the flow are quantified. © 1986. |
