A simple analytical performance relationship for design of multistage rotating biological contactors was derived. The proposed relationship, which was verified with the aid of existing performance data from a variety of treatment plants, can be used with satisfactory results, for preliminary design purposes for treating primarily settled domestic sewage (BOD 100-200 mg/L) under typical conditions (temperature above 12 degree C, DO of 1-2 mg/L). |
