In this paper, based on the principle of virtual work and the matrix algebra, the closed-form solution for the static analysis of a one-storey multicolumn cylindrical frame, subjected to a general co-planar to the circle loading, is presented. In principle, the closed-form solution for the static analysis of a continuous circular beam on -n- elastic hinges in plane with the circle, under the previous general loading, is achieved, and through convenient compatibility conditions between the horizontal and the vertical members, a matrix solution for the whole structure is derived. The effects of shear and axial forces arc also taken into account in the analysis. Finally, the developed methodology is successfully demonstrated through an application concerning the static analysis of a one-storey symmetrical semicylindrical frame on three columns. The solution technique being used is well suited to computer applications. © 1987. |
