This paper deals with a general Lyapunov function for transient stability studies of multimachine power systems, by considering the effect of system damping and transfer conductances. The construction of the described Lyapunov function is based on the variable gradient method and the determination of a set of unknown coefficients. This determination depends on physical aspects provided by the observation of the system dynamic behavior. The advantages of applying the described function in transient stability studies are illustrated by the analysis of the Hellenic transmission system. |
