heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο της παρούσας μεταπτυχιακής εργασίας είναι η μελέτη μιας ακτής στο Λατσί στην Πόλη Χρυσοχούς, της Επαρχίας Πάφου στην Κύπρο. Η περιοχή παρουσιάζει σημαντικό πρόβλημα διάβρωσης, με μέση τιμή 30 μέτρα. Το Εργαστήριο Λιμενικών Έργων της Σχολής Πολιτικών Μηχανικών του ΕΜΠ, έπειτα από μελέτη της περιοχής, πρότεινε την κατασκευή 14 κυματοθραυστών και επέκταση του υφιστάμενου λιμένα. Η επέκταση του λιμένα ολοκληρώθηκε το 2004 και το Μάιο του 2010 ολοκληρώθηκε η τοποθέτηση των τεσσάρων κυματοθραυστών. Η κατασκευή των υπόλοιπων δέκα κυματοθραυστών, δεν έχει ξεκινήσει, λόγω της δυσμενής οικονομικής κατάστασης της χώρας. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, σκοπός είναι η διερεύνηση της απόδοσης του συστήματος των κυματοθραυστών. Για την επίτευξη του ανωτέρου στόχου, χρησιμοποιείται το λογισμικό Mike 21 του DHI, όπου και συγκρίνονται τα αποτελέσματά του με πραγματικά δεδομένα. Οι προσομοιώσεις πραγματοποιούνται για δύο χρονικές περιόδους: το 2002 και το 2012. Στοιχεία, όπως η βυθομετρία της περιοχής και η θέση της ακτογραμμής, λήφθηκαν από τον Κλάδο Θαλασσίων Έργων του Υπουργείου Συγκοινωνιών και Έργων Κύπρου.	el
heal.abstract	The subject of the present study is a coast located in Paphos, Cyprus. The coast has a serious problem with erosion, fact that lead to the design of fourteen detached breakwaters and the construction of the four. The construction began in March 2009 and finished in May 2010. The purpose of the present study is to examine the evolution of the coastline and more specifically to examine whether if the breakwaters brought changes, accretion or erosion in the coastline. In order to accomplish the aim of the present study, a model was developed for two time periods: 2002 (before the construction of the works) and 2012 (after the construction of the works). A comparison between numerical models that are suitable for the goal of the study has been made, in order to choose the optimal one. The best choice is Mike 21 by DHI, because it is a comprehensive software, requires minimum input data, the computational procedure is reduced and provides an excellent customer support. Bathymetric measurements, coastline surveying, photographs, wind data and older studies for the area, were taken by the Department of Maritime Works of the Ministry of Communications and Works of the Republic of Cyprus. The results of the numerical simulation were compared to field measurements, in order to see the changes in the coastline and the efficiency of the numerical model.	en
