heal.abstract	The present thesis focuses on a new design approach encompassing parametric modelling and optimisation of oil tankers. More specifically, the project deals with the case study of a double hull AFRAMAX tanker. The first stage of the thesis includes the development of the parametric model, along with the necessary software tools performing all necessary computations for the techno-economic assessment of each design alternative. The second stage is the design optimisation. In the end of the optimisation process, the optimal design is selected out of a series of feasible designs. The parametric model is set up in Napa, a well-known computer-aided ship design software.	en
