heal.abstract	Αν και η λειτουργική σημασία του χώρου των υποδομών στις ολοένα αυξανόμενες αστικές συγκεντρώσεις θεωρείται δεδομένη, ο κοινωνικός τους ρόλος ως κοινά μέσα προς κοινούς στόχους έχει συστηματικά υποτιμηθεί. Η μετατροπή των δημοσίων έργων σε υποδομές υπονοεί μία ευρύτερη μεταστροφή στην αντίληψη χρηστών και σχεδιαστών. Η πολιτική εξουδετέρωση των υποδομών και ο συνακόλουθος παραγκωνισμός του κοινωνικού τους ρόλου, ανάγεται στο πρόβλημα της μονομερούς ανάπτυξης της μίας εκ των δύο φύσεών τους. Αν και αυτές είναι καθολικά γενικευμένα συστήματα και ταυτόχρονα χωρικά, συγκεκριμένα αντικείμενα, η δεύτερη φύση έχει προοδευτικά υποσκελιστεί από την πρώτη. Περνώντας από την κλασσική πόλη στην πόλη-μηχανή του Cerda και στην εδραίωση των καθολικών συστημάτων του παγκοσμιοποιημένου 20ού αιώνα, κατασκευάζονται πλέον ‘αυτονόητα’ συστήματα υποδομών με μόνη έμφαση στη λειτουργία ή την εικόνα τους. Πρόθεσή μας είναι η ανάδειξη του πολιτικού χαρακτήρα των υποδομών στη διευρυμένη κοινωνική σφαίρα του 21ου αιώνα, με βασική αρχή την ισχυροποίηση της θέσης του πολίτη. Η πολιτική προδιάθεση που μας ενδιαφέρει εντοπίζεται στη συνύπαρξη των δύο φύσεων και τις εναλλακτικές πρακτικές του χώρου που αυτή υπονοεί. Ως εκ τούτου, προτείνουμε μία επέμβαση αναδιαρθρωτικής λογικής επί του ‘διογκωμένου’ συστήματος, με την κατοχύρωση του δικαιώματος του πολίτη για φυσική παρουσία στο χώρο των υποδομών και έκφραση αναφορικά με αυτόν, ούτως ώστε να αναδυθεί η έταιρη ταυτό- τητά τους ως πολιτισμικά αντικείμενα. Με εργαλεία επέμβασης τη δομή των ανοικτών συστημάτων του R. Sennet και τη λογική δράσης των ενεργών μορφών της K. Easterling, παρέχεται η δυνατότητα διαμόρφωσης της ισορροπίας μεταξύ των δύο φύσεων από το σώμα των πολιτών. Ο χώρος συνδέεται ξανά με την πολιτική του ταυτότητα, μετατρέποντάς τον σε τόπο.	el
heal.abstract	Despite the functional significance of infrastructure spaces in today’s ever growing urban complexes, their social role as shared means to common ends has been systemically devalued. The modern preference for the term «infrastructure» rather than this of «public works» implies a deep shift in the understanding of these structures by users and designers alike. Political neutralization of infrastructure and the resulting sidelining of its social role, is understood here as a problem caused by the unilateral development of its de facto dual nature. Although one considers infrastructure simultaneously as a generic system and a specific object, the latter trait has been progressively overshadowed by the former. From the classical city to Cerda’s machine-like Barcelona and the establishment of the universal systems of the 20th century, 'unchallenged’ infrastructure space is constructed emphasizing on either the strict functionality or the flamboyant image. Our intention here is to point out the political importance of infrastructure space in the (wider) social sphere of the 21st century, strengthening the role of the citizen. The political disposition this paper is interested in, can be located in the coexistence of the two natures, this of the system and that of the object, and the alternatives it implies. Having said that, we propose a restructuring of the, now prevailing, systemic nature, in order to propel the emergence of a cultural artifact. Thus, we examine the structure of R. Sennet’s open systems and the tools of K. Easterling’s active forms to define a procedure where the active citizen sets and constantly reexamines the balancing point between the two natures. In this way, space acquires a concrete political identity, becoming a specific yet resonant place.	en
