Abstract:
The determination of traffic factors impact on incident duration is critical for the creation of effective incident and traffic management systems. The present thesis focuses on the estimation of factors that influence the accident duration. The influence of traffic factors is examined with two applications of Cox’s proportional hazards model. Each application varies with the stratified variable, maximum queue length and queue duration. Among the results revealed, it has been shown that the interaction among accident duration and traffic factors is significant to the estimation of accident duration. Moreover, queues seem to have a great impact on accident duration.
